Minecraft offers players endless enjoyment. With the Wild update, new additions, like frogs, have made the game even more fun. Besides the undeniably cute design, frogs create Froglight cubes with level 15 light after consuming magma blocks. These are helpful for fending off mobs and staying alive.
As for the frogs themselves, Minecraft features three types:
- Temperate Frog: frogs that grow in Swamps and drop yellow Ochre Froglight.
- Cold Frog: frogs that grow in Frozen River and drop green Verdant Froglight.
- Warm Frog: frogs that grow in Badlands and Mangrove Swamp. They drop Pearlescent Froglight.
The 4 Steps to Breeding Frogs
Now that you know which types of frogs you can have, here’s how you can get them:
- Gather Slimeballs
Before locating frogs, you need a slimeball. You get slimeball in two ways—by finding and killing slimes or by making pandas sneeze. - Find Frogs and Feed Them Those Slimeballs
Once you’ve gathered slimeballs, start feeding frogs! Look in swamps to find them easier. Once you feed two frogs, they will mate and use a water block to lay Frogspawn. - Wait for the Frogspawn to Hatch Into Tadpoles
Frogspawn hatch into tadpoles, and they can’t survive long on land. Plus, they move irregularly in water, and axolotl creatures hunt them. To protect tadpoles, keep them in buckets. - Feed the Tadpoles More Slimeballs
To make tadpoles grow into frogs faster, feed them slimeballs. Otherwise, it can take up to 20 minutes.
Breeding frogs in Minecraft can help you survive longer by creating powerful light sources. Lastly, frogs feature cool cosmetic designs and show you’re a dedicated Minecraft player. So, go raise frogs and reap the benefits!
