Behind Game Worlds: The Invisible Magic of Lighting ✨
Assassin's Creed Shadows features invisible magic that makes its game world feel more alive. This magic lies in its lighting system, which has undergone significant changes. The game's technical architect, Nicolas Lopez, revealed that if lighting were calculated similarly to Assassin's Creed Unity, it would have taken nearly two years to "bake" and required around 2TB of storage space. However, Ubisoft utilized ray tracing technology to enhance the lighting. This allowed for dynamic environments, 11 different times of day, four seasons, and various weather effects. The team also adopted the Academy Color Encoding System, a universal color standard used in the film industry. This ensures consistent color information across different devices and applications. With these advancements, Assassin's Creed Shadows boasts a more vibrant and lifelike game world 🌟. The game's lighting behaves naturally, making the world feel more grounded and believable 🌐.
