Southeast Asia’s juggernauts, who finished eighth at The International 10 (TI10), have re-signed their Dota 2 team ahead of the upcoming 2024 DPC season.
After a solid showing in the second DPC season, the T1 Dota 2 team qualified for TI10. T1 finished first in the Southeast Asia Upper Division of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Season 2 and third in the WePlay AniMajor, earning them a direct entrance to TI10. T1 had an explosive performance at TI10.
T1’s lack of experience on the international scene had no impact on their performance. Four squad members were making their TI debuts, and their combined performance surpassed expectations. During the group stage, the team’s midlaner Karl “Karl” Baldovino achieved the highest KDA of all players, with an average KDA of 10.08.
Players should be supported. Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon and Kenny “Xepher” Deo have been dynamic and aggressive. Xepher had the most significant assist average in the group stage, while Whitemon came fifth.
Based on Team Undying’s performance, T1 earned a berth in the main event’s upper bracket. In the first round, they were up against PSG.LGD, one of the international favorites. The T1 Dota 2 squad was able to win one game against PSG.LGD, but the series was ultimately lost 2-1. T1 met long-time TI veterans Alliance and swept them 2-0 after descending to the bottom bracket. T1 faced Vici Gaming in the following lower bracket round but lost the series 2-1 and ended 7-8th place at TI10, earning USD$1,000,000 in prize money.
Looking forward to 2024, T1 published a video in which all of their players expressed gratitude to their supporters and promised to return more powerful this year.
March will resume as coach of the T1 Dota 2 team.
According to the organization, Park “March” Tae-won, the team’s coach, will remain with the club. March is a Dota 2 veteran who competed for MVP Phoenix at TI5. For almost two years, he has coached renowned teams such as Fnatic and TNC Predator in the Southeast Asian region.
