Overwatch 2 Reveals Season 20 Skins, Events, and More

Overwatch 2 has announced Season 20, called Vendetta, and it packs a lot for the end of 2025. The season goes live December 9 and adds a first-of-its-kind melee damage hero, Stadium updates, competitive progression improvements, and a large winter event that runs into January.

Quick timing and what to finish now

Season 19 ends when Season 20 launches on December 9. If you are wrapping up a Battle Pass, you have until then to claim rewards. From December 4 to the end of Season 19, Competitive Drives return. Those let players queue for ranked games to earn Competitive Points and a unique Signature reward.

Vendetta: the new melee damage hero

The new hero Marzia Bartalotti, known as Vendetta or La Lupa, is the season’s headline. She is the first true melee damage hero in Overwatch 2. Vendetta is a highly mobile and aggressive character tied to Talon and Overwatch lore, and she brings a playstyle that favors close range engagements and fast movement.

Stadium updates and new map

Stadium is getting several changes. Doomfist and Wuyang are being added as playable heroes in the mode. Cassidy has a Hero Power and item rework. There is also a new Control map set in China. Competitive rewards for Stadium now include a Top 500 tier and a League 6 Reaper Chase skin for high achievers.

Winter Wonderland event details

Winter Wonderland returns December 9 through January 7. The event features three themed reward tracks where players can earn Jingle Tracer, Krampus Junkrat, and Santa Claus Torbjorn. Mischief & Magic is back with a holiday spin. From December 9 to December 22 players get the classic prop hunt with a wintery makeover. From December 23 to January 5 Kiriko gains special powers based on her disguise, like biting gingerbread or exploding snowmen.

Event quests can also reward Frozen Demon Junkrat and Frozen Mountaineer Cassidy.

Competitive changes to make climbing fairer

Competitive Play receives notable tweaks. Challenger Score will provide improved momentum for rank progress during win streaks and via queue bonuses. If you lose to a cheater who gets banned later, you will get back some of your lost rank progress. Top ranked players will also have increased visibility so the community can see who sits at the top.

New skins and cosmetics in Season 20

Season 20 includes a long list of new cosmetics across Battle Pass, Shop, and Event rewards. Highlights include a Mythic Cassidy hero skin called Divine Desperado. That Mythic follows Overwatch 2’s new approach, with customizable hairstyles, colorways, and solar effects unlocked across tiers. Orisa gets a Mythic print option for her weapon called Capsule Cannon that turns the Augmented Fusion Driver into a gacha machine style skin.

Other named cosmetics coming in Season 20 include Yukizaru Genji, Celestial Venture, Colder: 76, Frost Lich Reaper, Skadi Freja, Cold Front Tracer, Ice Crystal Symmetra, Winter Guardian Illari, Cozy bundles for Ashe, Wuyang, Juno, Bastion, and Mauga, Borealis sets for Mercy, Lifeweaver, Echo, Wuyang, and Sojourn, plus Heist skins for Roadhog, Reaper, and Ashe. The Ultimate Battle Pass includes High Society Vendetta and Reindeer Tracer among other Ultimate rewards.

Here is how those categories are distributed in Season 20:

  1. Battle Pass and Ultimate Battle Pass offerings
  2. Shop bundles and Cozy sets
  3. Event rewards from Winter Wonderland and Mischief & Magic

Quality of life additions

One convenience change arriving with Season 20 is gifting. Players will finally be able to gift Battle Passes, currency bundles, and premium packs to friends through Battle.net.

Final notes and a small heads up

Season 20 launches December 9, 2025. It gives players a new hero to learn, Stadium additions to master, and a long list of winter cosmetics and event activities to chase. If you like collecting skins and want to speed up your cosmetic grind, consider stacking Buff Points on BUFF. A little grind there can help you secure the looks you want, and yes I am a fan of a tidy cosmetic stash when the season drops. Check out https://www.buff.game/ if you want to earn more Buff Points for the season.

That is the core of what Season 20 brings. Expect Vendetta to change some close-quarters dynamics and Winter Wonderland to keep the end of the year lively.
