Marvel Rivals Season 2: Emma Frost Skin, Deadpool Tease, and Competitive Updates
Marvel Rivals Season 2, themed around the “Hellfire Gala,” has introduced significant content, including a new hero, map, and competitive changes.

Free Emma Frost Skin for Gold III Players

Players who achieve Gold III rank in competitive mode before the end of Season 2 will receive the exclusive Golden Diamond Emma Frost skin at the start of Season 2.5. This incentive aims to encourage engagement in ranked matches, despite the challenges associated with competitive play.

Introduction of Emma Frost and Krakoa Map

Season 2 marks the debut of Emma Frost as a Vanguard hero, featuring telekinetic abilities and a diamond form. Accompanying her arrival is the Hellfire Gala: Krakoa map, offering dynamic gameplay and rich lore tied to the mutant-themed event.

Ranked Mode Overhaul

Significant changes have been implemented in the competitive scene:
  • Rank Reset: All players have been reset by nine divisions. For example, a player ending Season 1.5 at Diamond I now starts Season 2 at Silver
  • Hero Bans: The pick and ban phase now begins at Gold III, allowing for more strategic hero selections earlier in the competitive tiers.
  • Map Rotation: The competitive map pool has been updated, with the introduction of Krakoa and the removal of certain maps from ranked play.

Season 1.5 Rank Distribution

The distribution of players across ranks at the end of Season 1.5 was as follows:

  • Bronze: 13.2%
  • Silver: 17.9%
  • Gold: 20.6%
  • Platinum: 16.9%
  • Diamond: 17.1%
  • Grandmaster: 11.2%
  • Celestial: 2.8%
  • Eternity & One Above All: 0.3%

Deadpool Tease in Lore Update

A recent lore update reveals that Psylocke is being pursued by a mysterious “man in red,” sent by the Collector after her escape with Mantis and Jeff. Speculation suggests this could hint at the upcoming introduction of Deadpool to the game’s roster.

Player Engagement and Statistics

As of April 2025, Marvel Rivals boasts impressive player engagement:
  • Current Players: Approximately 82,400 active players.
  • 24-Hour Peak: 242,636 players.
  • All-Time Peak: 644,269 concurrent players on January 11, 2025.

Buff Integration for Rewards

Players can enhance their gaming experience by integrating with Buff, a platform that rewards gameplay with points redeemable for various prizes. Engaging in ranked matches and reaching Gold III not only secures the Emma Frost skin but also accumulates Buff points for additional rewards.
